Scanning a page longer than A4 using your ScanSnap iX500

Did you know that you can scan documents longer than an A4 sheet (but less than 86 cm) with your ScanSnap iX500? Follow these steps in order to do so:

For Windows:

  1. Open the ScanSnap Manager by right clicking the ScanSnap Manager Icon (Blue circle with “S” in it) in the system tray (lower right hand corner of your screen). Then select “Scan Button Settings”.
  2. After the ScanSnap Manager opens, click on the ‘Scanning’ tab.
  3. In the ‘Image Quality’ drop down, select any mode except for ‘Excellent’.
  4. Click ‘OK’ to save and exit out of the ScanSnap Manager Settings.
  5. Next, load your long document into the scanner input tray.
  6. Once loaded, hold the blue scan button until it blinks for 3 seconds or longer.
  7. Release the button and the document will begin scanning.

Note: Long page mode is not recommended for A4 sheets or smaller

For Mac:

  1. In the dock, open the ScanSnap Manager by pressing ‘control’ and clicking on the ScanSnap Manager icon and clicking ‘Settings…’
  2. After the ScanSnap Manager Settings opens, click on the ‘Scanning’ tab.
  3. In the ‘Image Quality’ drop down, select any mode except for ‘Excellent’.
  4. Click ‘OK’ to save and exit out of the ScanSnap Manager Settings.
  5. Next, load your long document into the scanner input tray.
  6. Once loaded, hold the blue scan button until it blinks for three seconds or longer.
  7. Release the button and the document will begin scanning.

Note: Long page mode is not recommended for A4 sheets or smaller.
